Not just a PICKY EATEr?

National ARFID Foundation aims to spread awareness about Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID) and provide support to individuals and families affected by this eating disorder. Join us in our mission to promote understanding and support for those with ARFID.

WHAT IS ARFID?

ARFID (Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder) is an eating disorder characterized by an extreme avoidance or restriction of certain foods due to sensory sensitivities, fear of choking, or past negative experiences with food. Unlike other eating disorders, ARFID doesn’t involve a concern with body weight or appearance, but can lead to significant nutritional deficiencies, weight loss, and social or emotional challenges around eating. Individuals with ARFID may struggle with a limited range of foods, avoid eating in social settings, or have difficulty meeting their nutritional needs, often resulting in isolation and distress.
